LAKEWOOD — Chautauqua Art Gallery will celebrate its one-year anniversary on Saturday, Jan. 26 with a daylong open house. The gallery will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with watercolor demonstrations at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. There will also be a raffle basket, food and beverages throughout the day.
Local proprietors Leslie and Joe Calimeri opened the gallery one year ago at 104 Chautauqua Ave. in Lakewood. Over the past year it has been host to a growing body of work by local and regional artists and has seen many patrons visit, browse and purchase original artwork.
“We really want to thank our community for their fantastic support making our first year in business a success.” said Leslie. “We are excited to be adding new artists in 2019 and look forward to continuing to build our gallery and exposure for artwork in Chautauqua County”.
Chautauqua Art Gallery features the watercolor paintings of proprietor Leslie Calimeri. Her paintings highlight some of Chautauqua County’s beautiful local landscapes. In addition, the gallery showcases a variety of fine art and artisan crafts from paintings and photography to jewelry and fiber arts. New in January are paintings by Randolph artist Judy Whittaker, jewelry and fiber works by Bemus Point artist Lyn Harris. New photography and ceramic art will be added in February and new sculptural work will arrive later this spring.
Current hours at the gallery are Monday and Wednesday – Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. or by appointment. The anniversary open house will be on Jan. 26 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
