Fredonia ensembles to ring in the holiday at annual concert

Four State University of New York at Fredonia School of Music student choral ensembles will usher in the holiday season with their annual Holiday Concert, featuring seasonal classics and newer compositions, in King Concert Hall on Sunday, Dec. 8, beginning at 8 p.m.

The Camerata, conducted by Dr. Adam Luebke, will sing: “Tota pulchra es,” four Morravian duets op. 38 and “Hail! Christmas Day.”

The Chamber Choir, conducted by Dr. Vernon Huff, will sing: “There is No Rose of Such Virtue,” “Quatre motets pour le temps de Noel” (O magnum mysterium), “Still, Still, Still” and “The Wexford Carol.”

The College Choir, conducted by Dr. Melvin Unger, will sing: “Ave Maria,” “Ave Verum,” “Noel!” and “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming.”

The University Chorus, conducted by Cody Mott, will sing: “Great God Almighty,” “Hallelujah, Amen from Judas Maccabaeus,” “In stiller Nacht,” “Throw the Yule Log on, Uncle John,” “Five Hebrew Love Songs” (II Kal’ kall’) and “Sunrise Mass” (III The City).

The combined ensembles, totaling 300 students, will sing “Fum, Fum, Fum” and “Shout for Joy!”

The concert, a campus tradition that is free and open to the public, will also be live streamed. See online at: Fredonia.edu/music/live.
