Fredonia Middle School to present ‘Wizard of Oz’

Fredonia Middle School will present its eighth annual musical, “The Wizard of Oz,” on at 7 p.m. Nov. 22 and 3 and 7 p.m. Nov. 23 in the district auditorium. All tickets are $5. Reserved tickets are available at tinyurl.com/fcsdmusic or in the high school lobby from 4 to 6 p.m. on Nov. 19 and 21.

“The Wizard of Oz” is based on the classic L. Frank Baum book and iconic 1939 movie that is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. It is the story of Dorothy Gale, a girl from Kansas who ends up in the mysterious and magical land of Oz. The musical features all the classic songs from the movie including “Over the Rainbow,” “If I Only Had a Brain, “The Merry Old Land of Oz” and many more.

More than 100 Fredonia Middle School students are involved in this production between the cast and backstage crew. Many high school students are also assisting in a variety of ways. Principal cast members include Katherine Fortna (Dorothy), Andrew Kinney (Scarecrow), Jack Tuccio (Tin Man), Grant Abbey (Cowardly Lion), Leah Marsh (Toto), Ava Kehrer (Wicked Witch of the West), Ava Hartung (Glinda) and Draejen Hicks (The Wizard).
