Silver Creek Middle School to stage ‘Seussical Jr.’ Nov. 14-15

SILVER CREEK – Remember Dr. Seuss and all those amazing stories from childhood?

“The Cat in the Hat,” “Horton Hears a Who,” “Daisy-Head Mayzie,” “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” the Jungle of Nool, those iconic fish and more hold a special place in many of our early memories and Silver Creek Middle School is excited to bring them to life for you in their upcoming production of “Seussical Jr.” the musical.

The community is invited to attend the production Thursday and Friday, Nov. 14-15 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium at 1 Dickinson St. The SCMS choirs will present this 1 hour, 15-minute show celebrating all the beloved Seuss characters with energetic and beautiful music. Songs you’ll recognize include “Oh the Things You Can Think” and “Solla Sollew.”

More than 100 students are involved in the production from performing to tech to stage crew to set design. This is a “double cast” production and every single sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-grader in chorus at SCMS is participating in the musical. There will be a different leading cast at both performances. Additionally, the sets are and tech crew primarily comprise SCMS students.

The cast includes: Emily Bowers and Cody Ramirez as Jojo; Cassidy Haskins and Katrina Haskins as Cat in the Hat; Trent Lack and Liam Matney as Horton the Elephant; Marissa Grisanti and Katie Gard as Gertrude McFuzz; Julie Decker and Renee Soggs as Mayzie La Bird; Mikey Grisanti as Mr. Mayor; Makayla Kelly as Mrs. Mayor; Emma Gretschmann, Krystal Zayas, Mattison Larson, Brooklyn Miller and Rachel Kemp as Bird Girls; Jacob Schwab, Gabriel Bistrisky and Joel Dolce as Wickershams; Gianna Grabias as Sour Kangaroo; Irelynd Henry as Young Kangaroo; Cereniti Pfleuger, Alaina Reed, Adrian Frame and Autumn Wolff as Who Family No. 1; Lexi Parks, Adeline Richardson and Aubrey Domres as Who Family No. 2; Cassidy Westbrook as Yertle the Turtle; Vincent Olmstead as Vlad Vladikoff; Samuel Bowers as The Grinch; Ariah Miller as Thing 1; and Zuly Cruz as Thing 2.

The Silver Creek Boosters will sell refreshments during the production with all proceeds benefitting the performing arts at SCCS. They will also be taking orders for this year’s popular Holiday Cookie fundraiser. Pre-orders for video recordings of the show will be available, too.
