Concerto Competition winners to perform

Allison Dana

The State University of New York at Fredonia School of Music will present live streamed performances by Lauren Henning (bassoon) and Allison Dana (oboe), winners of the School of Music’s Concerto Competition held last fall, on Friday, Feb. 26, at 8 p.m.

Both are seniors with dual majors in Music Performance and Music Education.

Ms. Henning, of Eden, will perform the Concerto for Bassoon in F major, by Carl Maria von Weber. According to her studio teacher, Professor Laura Koepke, Henning has worked hard and challenged herself since her first semester at Fredonia.

“She sets a goal for herself and meets it. I am so pleased and proud of her musical growth over the last four years. Lauren’s musicianship and dedication to her art are an inspiration to everyone who knows her,” Ms. Koepke said. “I am excited for her future and to see where she goes from here!”

Ms. Dana, of Stony Brook, will perform the Concerto for Oboe and Small Orchestra, by Bohuslav Martinu. Her studio teacher, Associate Professor Sarah Hamilton, said it has been a pleasure to work with her at Fredonia.
