Concert series returns to church Friday
The Hannah Hasbrouck Petersen Memorial Concert Series returns to the Fredonia United Methodist Church on Friday at 8 p.m. with a choral concert featuring the Lake Ridge Singers from Cleveland, Ohio, and the Fredonia Chamber Singers.
The Lake Ridge Singers, under the direction of Cody Mott, is an Upper School ensemble from the Lake Ridge Academy, an independent college preparatory school on the West Side of Cleveland. The group performs a wide ranging and eclectic repertoire spanning the centuries from the 16th to the present day. The Lake Ridge Singers maintain an active performance schedule throughout the school year, both on and off campus.
Lake Ridge Choral Director Cody Mott also serves as an Adjunct Choral Lecturer in the Music and Theatre Department at Edinboro University in Edinboro, Pennsylvania.
The Fredonia Chamber Singers, under the direction of Dr. Vernon Huff, is a small select choir from SUNY Fredonia. They were recently featured in concert at the American Choral Directors Eastern Region Conference at the Old North Church in Boston.
Huff is Director of Choral Activities and Associate Professor of Choral Music Education at the School of Music, SUNY Fredonia.
The two groups will work together during the day at the Fredonia School of Music, and will present a joint concert in the evening at the Fredonia United Methodist Church at 25 Church St. in Fredonia. As always, the series is free, and all are welcome. The church is fully handicapped accessible. Donations to support the series are always gratefully accepted.
