‘Downton Abbey’ returns at Opera House

The next film in the Cinema Series at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center is "Downton Abbey: A New Era," the latest sequel to the popular PBS series. It will be screened Saturday and Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
From award-winning creator Julian Fellowes comes the motion picture event "Downton Abbey: A New Era." The much-anticipated cinematic return of the global phenomenon reunites the beloved cast as they go on a grand journey to the South of France to uncover the mystery of the Dowager Countess' (Maggie Smith) newly inherited villa.
Marah Eakin, in the Chicago Reader, calls the film "cinematic escapism at its finest." June Thomas, in Slate, calls it "as satisfying a film-going experience as I can remember." Richard Roeper, in the Chicago Sun Times, calls it "the definition of a simple pleasure." Brian Lowry, on CNN.com, says "series creator Julian Fellowes still knows how to pluck the right strings -- upstairs and downstairs -- to play a symphony with his sprawling cast." Rated PG for thematic elements, some suggestive references, and language, "Downton Abbey: A New Era" runs two hours, five minutes.
Tickets are available at the door for $7 (adults), $6.50 (seniors & Opera House members) and $5 (students) the night of each screening.
