The next film in the Cinema Series at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center is the heartwarming "Gigi & Nate." It will be screened Saturday and Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Inspired by a true story, Nate Gibson's (Charlie Rowe) life is turned upside down after he suffers a near-fatal illness and is left a quadriplegic. Moving forward seems impossible until he meets his unlikely service animal, Gigi - a curious and intelligent capuchin monkey - who helps Nate find what he needs most: hope.
Phil Villareal, on ABC Tucson calls the film "one of this year's very best." Patrick McDonald, on HollywoodChicago.com, calls it "a perfect family film." Josh Batchelder, on Josh at the Movies, calls it "a note-perfect drama about the heartwarming love between a service animal and (its) owner, proving forevermore that creature comforts can act as a cooling balm for anxiety and depression." Rated PG-13 for some thematic material and language, "Gigi & Nate" runs one hour, 54 minutes.
Tickets are available at the door for $7 (adults), $6.50 (seniors & Opera House members) and $5 (students) the night of each screening.
