CMP Chorale Fall Concert set for Sunday

JAMESTOWN -- Community Music Project is proud to announce that the CMP Chorale will present a concert of wonderful choral music entitled "Rise Up" on Sunday, Oct. 9, at 1st Presbyterian Church, Jamestown at 4 p.m. Admission free with a goodwill offering taken.

The 60 voice CMP Chorale is under the direction of Rebecca Ryan and accompanied by David Horne. The concert will feature soloists, Madeline DeJoy, a JHS senior, Lauren Hiller, an Infinity voice instructor, and her husband Cody Hiller, the SWCS string instructor. Also featured will be the JHS chorale director, Lauren Scharf and Melissa Beichner, former local music instructor.

The CMP Chorale was formed in 2018 with the intention of offering, without audition, an ensemble to perform high quality choral singing to anyone in the area. The current CMP Chorale members reside in the Jamestown area as well as Sinclairville, Gerry, Panama, Warren Pa, Lakewood, Chautauqua, Falconer, Erie Pa, Bemus Point, Randolph, Findley Lake, Dewittville, Frewsburg, Brocton, Russell, Mayville, and Ashville.

Community Music Project, Inc., founded in 1982, is a not-for-profit arts organization in Jamestown, NY that focuses on music education and performance for adults and children throughout the Western New York area. The ensembles give 5-7 concerts per year and admission is free, promoting the "Music for All" initiative. Children's Music Studio, classes designed for infants and their caregivers hold classes that run from September to December and January to May.

Their mission is to build community by providing educational opportunities and encouraging participation in music expression through programs for composers, performers, and listeners of all ages and skill levels in a variety of musical styles.
