Opera House event examines Beatles

A special program with Musicologist and Beatles Expert Scott Freiman will be on Thursday at 7 p.m.

The 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center presents Deconstructing Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, a special program with Musicologist and Beatles Expert Scott Freiman, on Thursday at 7 p.m. The program is followed by an opportunity for audience members to ask questions.

The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band is one of the most influential albums of our time. Rolling Stone described it as “the most important rock ‘n roll album ever made, an unsurpassed adventure in concept, sound, songwriting, cover art and studio technology by the greatest rock & roll group of all time.”

In Deconstructing Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Freiman looks at the album from multiple angles, exploring the history behind the music.

He shows audience members how The Beatles made their 1967 masterpiece using long-lost recordings, vintage photographs, and interview footage of the band members and those close to them.

Freiman combines his love of The Beatles with his experience as a composer, producer and engineer to deliver unique educational lectures about the creative process of The Beatles. He moves past the personalities of the four Beatles to uncover the reasons why their music continues to be loved by millions.

With anecdotes about the band’s recording sessions, Freiman transports his audiences into Abbey Road Studio, allowing fans to experience the evolution of The Beatles’ groundbreaking albums and songs. Audiences are guaranteed to leave amazed at the group’s innovation in the studio and with a newfound appreciation for the talents of Lennon, McCartney, Harrison, and Starr.

Tickets are $15, $13 (Opera House Members) and $10 (Students) and may be purchased in person at the Opera House Box Office or by phone at 716-679-1891, Tuesday through Friday, 12-4:30 p.m. They also may be purchased anytime online at www.fredopera.org.
