Opera House to present free recital

The 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center will present a special free recital featuring some of the most talented young artists from the State University of New York at Fredonia’s School of Music on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Presented in partnership with Ekstasis Duo’s Eliran Avni and Natasha Farny, the performance is part of a concert initiative created by the Duo as an extension of its own performances. The recitals feature selections from both the solo and chamber repertoire performed by the next generation of classical musicians in the inviting and intimate setting of the Opera House.

The recital will feature music by Brahms, Debussy, Prokofiev, Shostakovich and Alexei Stanchinsky, among others.

Admission to the recital is free, although donations toward piano tuning for the event are gratefully accepted.

Opera House programming is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, and by the United Arts Appeal of Chautauqua County. Free admission events are supported by the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation Arts & Culture Initiative administered by the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo.

The 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center is a member-supported not-for-profit performing arts center with a mission to “present the performing arts for the benefit of our community and region … providing access to artistic diversity … and high quality programming at an affordable price.” It is located in Village Hall in downtown Fredonia.
