Opera House Cinema Series to present ‘You Hurt My Feelings’

The next film in the Cinema Series at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center is the comedy “You Hurt My Feelings,” starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus. It will be screened today, July 22, and Tuesday, July 25, at 7:30 p.m.

From acclaimed filmmaker Nicole Holofcener comes a sharply observed comedy about a novelist (Louis-Dreyfus) whose long standing marriage is suddenly upended when she overhears her husband (Tobias Menzies) give his honest reaction to her latest book. A film about trust, lies, and the things we say to the people we love most.

The Austin Chronicle calls the film “a sweet, warm, and funny rumination on the delicate nature of our interpersonal relationships.” Rolling Stone calls it “a truly funny movie about brutal honesty.” The Boston Globe calls it “often laugh-out-loud funny. You’ll laugh even harder if you recognize or identify with the scenario.” Rated R for language, “You Hurt My Feelings” runs one hour, 33 minutes.

Tickets are available at the door for $7 (adults), $6.50 (seniors & Opera House members) and $5 (students) the night of each screening. A book of 10 movie passes is available for $60 at the door or online at www.fredopera.org. For more information, call the Opera House Box Office at 716-679-1891.
