Author Chat & Book Launch today

BROCTON – The Write Focus writers’ group will be hosting local author, Judy Shuler, for an Author Chat & Book Launch in the Ahira Hall Memorial Library at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7. Shuler will be discussing her newest book, You too Can Haiku: A Journaling in Three Lines. Haiku poems tell a story “Deeply spiritual, light-hearted, or somewhere in between, haiku can meet us where we are.” Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase.

to hold budget hearing

The Public Budget Hearing of the Board of Education of Gowanda Central School District will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 6 p.m. in the High School Library, 10674 Prospect Street, Gowanda.A regular meeting of the Board of Education will be held immediately following the Public Budget Hearing.

Ripley School Board to meet

RIPLEY – A regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Ripley Central School District will be held on Wednesday, May 7, at 6:30 p.m. in the Superintendent’s Office (Room 119) of the Ripley Central School for the purpose of any and all items that come before the board. The public hearing for the upcoming 2025-2026 budget vote/election of board members will be held immediately following the regular meeting.

North County Water District meeting Thursday

The Administrative Board of the North Chautauqua County Water District shall hold a meeting on Thursday, May 8, at the Dunkirk Town Hall, 4737 Willow Road, Dunkirk, at 4 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.

Women’s Health Event Saturday

CASSADAGA – The Cassadaga Branch of the Seymour Libraries will be hosting a free Women’s Health Event on Saturday, May 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition to regular library resources the event will feature vendors, and four free lectures. At 10 a.m. you can experience a sound healing with Janine Chimera. At 11 a.m. award-winning photographer Celeste Elliott will teach you how to take an instagram worthy photo with your camera. At noon you can participate in Nutrition Response Testing with Jen Overfield of WNY Whole Body Health. At 1 p.m. will be a Women’s Self- Defense with Hachidan Master Bill Matteson & Sensei Joe Los of Family Martial Arts. All events meant to help empower the strong women in our community.

The public is invited to attend a program by The Cardinal Quartet at Trinity Episcopal Church, 11 Day Street, Fredonia, on Saturday, May 10, at 5 p.m. Consisting of students from Fredonia, the members of this group are: Violin – Marley Crance and Noah Grossbard; Viola – Bryce McCandless; Cello – Jonah Albert. Music includes: Bryce McCandless – “Goblin Market”; Felix Mendelssohn – Quartet no.6 in F minor; and Jennifer Higdon – Southern Harmony, mvmt II “Reel Time.” Free-will donations accepted.
