Danza! Performing Arts ends successful season

Danza! Performing Arts Academy and their student Danzaco dance companies had an amazing season and are currently preparing for their upcoming production “MOVE.”
“MOVE” performances will be at Marvel Theatre SUNY Fredonia May 30 and 31 at 7 p.m. featuring talented local dancers of all ages. Tickets will be available at the door and at www.fredonia.edu/tickets, the public is invited and encouraged to attend.
Danzaco is the performance Company of the studio offering extra performance and competitive opportunities as well as additional training. Dancers participated in annual Fundraising showcases for Childhood Cancer patients, community events and several dance competitions. Company members participate in three of Danza! Performing Arts annual productions including their very own Showcase.
The studio was once again invited to participate in a live taping of the show “Dance Moms, a new Era.” In addition to having their dances taped by the show’s camera crew they were also a part of the audience for the show’s star performances. The studio won each of their respective divisions.
Danzaco is led by High School Senior’s Emma Ahlstrom of Dunkirk, Taylor Thompson of Westfield, Danielle Krajewski of Gowanda and Marissa Grisanti of Silver Creek. Additional dancers include Morgan Kuras and Hannah Kuras of Dunkirk, Savannah Stein of Westfield and Zuleymarie Torres of Fredonia. Dancers performed a contemporary piece lyrical to “Running up that Hill” and a modern piece to “Dance with the Devil.” The pieces earned platinum scores and achieved high scores Overall in all dance styles and in division as well as a special “Creative Concepts” in choreography award.
Junior Company members are Adriana Blair, Aviana Bridges, Autumn Clark, Siyah Drummond, Cadence Draggett and Isabella Draggett. Performing to an upbeat ’60s inspired jazz piece of “These boots are made for walking,” dancers earned numerous awards.
Full company dances included a high energy jazz to “Shake, Shake Senora” and an old-school hip-hop routine to “One Two Step.” Dancers received special entertainment judge’s awards and Overall High scores. Select Dancers also performed a special award winning advanced acro dance to “Climbing up the Mountain.”
Soloists include Grisanti, Thompson, Ahlstrom, Krajewski, M. Kuras, Stein, Torres, Drummond, C. Draggett, I. Draggett, Bridges and Clark.
Special individual judge awards were given to Taylor Thompson for technique and performance quality, Siyah Drummond for flexibility as well as numerous group dance shoutouts for entertainment, energy and creativity. Emma Ahlstrom and Autumn Clark received invitations for the National Choreography Showcase with their respective solos. Aviana Bridges was crowned Little Miss East Coast Elite Dance Challenge based on her solo performance and onstage interview. Emma Ahlstrom received the studio Premier Dance Award for dedication and commitment.
Each number presented at competition qualified for National events at respective competitions by achieving top scores.
