August events set at Anderson-Lee Library
SILVER CREEK — Anderson-Lee Library, at 43 Main St., has announced programming for the month of August. Programs are free and open to the public.
Registration is required unless stated otherwise, to ensure enough seating and materials for all patrons attending the program. To register for programs, call the library at 716-934-3468, stop by 43 Main Street, or visit www.andersonleelibrary.org and click on our events tab for easy online registration. You can also sign up for email/text reminders when you register online!
Reading Logs and Tickets for our summer reading program, Color Our World, are due at the library Aug. 4 to 9. Please drop them off anytime we are open. All who submit a completed reading log and tickets will be eligible for a chance to win the grand prizes. Aug. 9 is the last day to submit logs and tickets.
— Thursday, Aug. 7, noon to 3 p.m.: Up your Coloring Skills: Learn to Draw Patterns and Add Textures to Coloring Projects! Drop in anytime between the stated hours and learn how to incorporate different textures and effects when coloring. This program is for all ages and no registration is necessary. Just drop in anytime between 12 and 3pm to color, doodle, and experiment with new techniques.
— Thursday, Aug. 14, 6 p.m.: Cupcakes Wars! For ages 11-17 at 6pm. Registration for this program is required. Create a cupcake and the judges will award a prize to their favorite!
— Tuesday, Aug. 19, 5 p.m.: Yarn Wrapped Letters, for ages 6 and older. Using a cardboard template, wrap a letter of your choosing. Your choice of letter will be asked for when you register for the program.
— Thursday, Aug. 21, 2 to 4 p.m.: Drop in Lego Club, for all ages. We are getting out all the Legos! Come and create to your heart’s content. No registration necessary, just drop in when you can between the stated hours.
— Thursday, Aug. 21, 5 p.m.: Yarn Stick People, for ages 8 and older. Create your own unique stick person using sticks and yarn! Registration required.
— Tuesday, Aug. 26, 6 p.m.: Paint Your Person, for ages 18 and older. This program is for you and your favorite person! Best friends, couples, parent/child, grandparent/grandchild (just remember 18-plus years of age please); You and your person will create portraits of each other, using our materials here at the library. This is not about perfection! Come enjoy an evening together having fun and sharing laughs. Registration is required and spots are limited.
— Thursday, Aug. 28, 6 p.m. Color Our World with Ice Cream! For all ages. Join us for an ice cream party to celebrate the end of summer! Registration required.
— The Secret Society of the Twisted Stitchers: Fridays from 2 to 4 p.m. This club is for all who love handiwork. Ages 10 and older and all skill levels are welcome! Please bring your own supplies. Just getting started? For knitting, bring size 10/10.5 bamboo needles and a light-colored worsted weight yarn (#4). For crochet, bring a size H hook and light-colored worsted weight yarn (#4). Come and learn or come and work on a project with others who love to knit, crochet, embroider, quilt etc.! No registration required. You do not need to commit to each week to attend. Please stop in and stitch!
Anderson-Lee Library is open to the public Monday and Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday noon to 5 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The library is closed Wednesday and Sunday.
