‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’ coming to Main Street Studios

Main Street Studios will be presenting Shakespeare’s “Midsummer Night’s Dream” from Thursday to Saturday.
Main Street Studios will be continuing with the annual tradition of a mid-summer Shakespeare play. What started out in 2017 at the Dunkirk Lighthouse as “Shakespeare on the Lake”, has grown into a thriving community theatre in Fredonia, bringing in actors and patrons of all generations from across the region, and even the country.
This year’s performance harkens back to the start, with what could be the best themed show for the time of year, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” which is Shakespeare’s most delightful and hilarious romantic comedy.
Set in a modern day Athenian resort, a group of dignitaries, friends, and family arrive to celebrate the nuptials of the Duke. However, a few mischievous characters attempt to disrupt love’s natural order, mistaking enemies for lovers, lovers for friends, all ensuing hilarity. As is often the case when life imitates art, we are reminded that not only are the lives of the rich and famous sometimes ridiculous, but that the lives of those who live and work there have dreams, hopes, and ambitions as large as their personalities.
Please join us at Main Street Studios for this annual tradition celebrating Shakespeare, with A Midsummer Night’s Dream, starring Emma Newton, Casey Armstrong, Brooke Jasinski, Ayden Herreid, and many other Main Street regulars; with special appearances by Paul Mockovack, Janie Villella-Sharon, and Fredonia’s favorite Grandma, Joyce Haynes.
The play will be directed by Sara Schoch who is a graduate of the SUNY Fredonia BFA musical theater program, and holds an MFA in acting from Brandeis University. A decorated actress and director, Sara is the Director of Musical Theater and Associate Professor of Musical Theater at the University of West Florida in Pensacola Florida. With 27 years in the business, she has performed in over 175 different shows, and directed over 30. She believes in the power of community, the necessity of art, and the human need for expression. Sara is a proud warrior, continuing to make art despite suffering from multiple sclerosis. “Art will save you”.
The show will be performed at 7:30 pm, Thursday to Saturday at Main Street Studios, 50 W. Main St., Fredonia. Presale tickets are available, and encouraged, at mainstreetstudios.seatyourself.biz.
