The Reg Lenna Center for the Arts will host the Vampire Circus at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25.
The show is a fusion of circus artistry, theater, technology, acrobatics and a vampire story.
The Vampire Circus has been called a mix of circus cabaret and theater and is the result of a fusion of Tim Burton and Cirque Du Soleil. The 90-minute production is an immersive ride through the underworld and vampires. The Vampire Circus was inspired by the allure of traveling carnivals and a vision of Francisco Santos, CEO founder and Cirque Du Soleil veteran performer.
Santos is a multi-award winning executive producer, founder and show creator of The Vampire Circus. He has more than 20 years of experience creating and overseeing live entertainment. During that tenure, Santos has been contracted to develop unique brand concepts for international special events. He is the eighth generation of his family to work in the entertainment business, traveling across five continents during a successful career performing Icarian Games, an ancient discipline known for its unique style and technique. He has taken part in numerous international festivals and also has been recognized with different awards, honors and nominations, which includes Spain’s 2009 Villa de Madrid award. He won an Emmy award in the category of “Outstanding Non-Fiction Program” for his work in the series “Fire Within.”
Since 2002, he has worked simultaneously with Cirque du Soleil on the creation of the show “Varekai.” With “Varekai,” he has been a guest artist in the category Icarian Games, which has been seen by more than 9 million people around the world.
Set in Bohemia during the 19th century, in Vampire Circus, Count Dracula contemplates a plan for world domination, when he decides to open a traveling circus with his gypsy bodyguards. The Vampire Circus is a perfect cover-up to travel unnoticed and begin his world reign of terror and turn all humans into an army of vampires for global dominance.
