Cinema Series to screen ‘Roofman’

“Roofman” will be shown on Saturday and Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

The Cinema Series continues at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center with screenings of the true story comedy, “Roofman,” on Saturday and Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The Tuesday night screening will be shown with captions visible on the screen.

Based on an unbelievable true story, “Roofman” follows Jeffrey Manchester (Channing Tatum), an Army veteran and struggling father who turns to robbing McDonald’s restaurants by cutting holes in their roofs, earning him the nickname Roofman. After escaping prison, he secretly lives inside a Toys “R” Us for six months, surviving undetected while planning his next move. But when he falls for Leigh (Kirsten Dunst), a divorced mom drawn to his undeniable charm, his double life begins to unravel, setting off a compelling and suspenseful game of cat and mouse as his past closes in.

Newsweek calls the film “one of the most enjoyable watches of 2025.” Newsday calls it “a thoroughly engaging comedy-drama.” Variety calls it “worthy of repeat viewing.” The Daily Telegraph (UK) says the film “has heart, energy and personality fit to burst.” The Hollywood Reporter says “This is the kind of disarming crowd-pleaser for which clichés like ‘it will sneak up and steal your heart’ were invented.” Rated  R for language, brief sexuality, and nudity, “Roofman” runs two hours, six minutes.

Tickets are available at the door for $7 (adults), $6.50 (seniors & Opera House members) and $5 (students) the night of each screening. The Opera House is equipped with assistive listening headsets for the hearing-impaired. Simply request one from any usher or staff member. The Opera House Cinema Series is generously sponsored by Lake Shore Bank.
