Opera House presents ‘Life of Pi’
“Life of Pi,” captured live via satellite from London’s National Theatre, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Fredonia Opera House.
The 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center will present the innovatively staged and critically acclaimed “Life of Pi,” captured live via satellite from London’s National Theatre, on Saturday at 1 p.m. The National Theatre Live production is part of Arts in the Afternoon at the Opera House.
Puppetry, magic and storytelling combine in a unique, Olivier Award-winning stage adaptation of the best-selling novel.
After a cargo ship sinks in the middle of the vast Pacific Ocean, a 16-year-old boy named Pi is stranded on a lifeboat with four other survivors – a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan and a Royal Bengal tiger. Time is against them, nature is harsh, who will survive?
Life of Pi stars Olivier Award-winner for Best Actor, Hiran Aberysekara. Filmed live in London’s West End and featuring state-of-the-art visuals, the epic journey of endurance and hope is brought to life in a breath-taking new way for cinema screens.
London’s Daily Mail calls the production “ a wonder to behold. The Observer (UK) notes “Everything about this production is amazing!” The production runs two hours, 26 minutes with one intermission.
