Springsteen film coming to Opera House
“Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere,” will be shown Saturday and Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
The Cinema Series continues at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center with screenings of the Bruce Springsteen biopic, “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere,” on Saturday and Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The Tuesday night screening will be shown with captions visible on the screen.
On the cusp of global superstardom, New Jersey rocker Bruce Springsteen (Jeremy Allen White) struggles to reconcile the pressures of success with the ghosts of his past as he records the album “Nebraska” in the early 1980s.
The New York Times calls the film “a solid, very likable, very affecting drama about an anguished period in the life of the young Bruce Springsteen.” USA Today calls it “a solid portrait of an artist working through some stuff, and a man learning the power of being ‘the Boss’.” The San Jose Mercury News calls it “a quiet beauty that understands and has compassion for how creativity and depression so often can be inexorably linked and produce such iconic works.” Rated PG-13 for some sexuality, smoking, strong language, and thematic material, “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere” runs one hour, 59 minutes.
Tickets are available at the door for $7 (adults), $6.50 (seniors & Opera House members) and $5 (students) the night of each screening. The Opera House is equipped with assistive listening headsets for the hearing-impaired. Simply request one from any usher or staff member. The Opera House Cinema Series is generously sponsored by Lake Shore Bank.
