Opera House to screen ‘Marty Supreme’
“Marty Supreme,” starring Timothee Chalamet, on Saturday and Tuesday, at 7:30 p.m.
The Cinema Series continues at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center with screenings of “Marty Supreme,” starring Timothee Chalamet, on Saturday and Tuesday, at 7:30 p.m. The Tuesday night screening will be shown with captions visible on the screen.
Nominated for nine Oscars including for Best Picture, and Best Actor for Chalamet, “Marty Supreme” tells the story of shoe salesman Marty Mauser (Chalamet), a young man with a dream nobody respects in 1950s New York City, who sacrifices everything to become a world table tennis champion.
The San Jose Mercury News calls the film “pure lighting in a bottle that leaps boldly out of the starting gate and never slows down until it hits the finish line.” Filmspotting calls it “a biting portrait of ambition, class, and identity.” Irish Times calls it “an enormously good time at the cinema.” New York Magazine says “Chalamet is fantastic in this role. It may very well be his best work yet, in a career filled with excellent performances.” Rated R for language, bloody images, nudity, sexual content, and some violent content, “Marty Supreme” runs two hours, 30 minutes.
Tickets are available at the door for $7 (adults), $6.50 (seniors & Opera House members) and $5 (students) the night of each screening. The Opera House is equipped with assistive listening headsets for the hearing-impaired. Simply request one from any usher or staff member. The Opera House Cinema Series is generously sponsored by Lake Shore Bank.
