Looking for a Lenten experience that touches the heart and lifts the spirit? Holy Trinity Church offers Contemporary Stations of the Cross in candlelight, featuring 16 live songs and guided reflections that make this centuries-old devotion come alive — Friday at 7 p.m.

Participants journey through the 14 Stations of the Cross while listening to 16 carefully selected modern songs that echo the themes of Christ’s passion — love, sacrifice, suffering, and redemption. Musical selections include pieces inspired by artists such as Billy Joel, Josh Groban, Bryan Adams, Goo Goo Dolls, and Eric Clapton, whose lyrics and melodies bring a fresh perspective to this centuries-old tradition.

The evening features musicians and vocalists from Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Tom Donovan serves as lead vocalist and narrator, guiding attendees through the reflections. Christina Donovan provides vocals and performs on flute, violin, and bass guitar, while Marie Sedota lends her voice and her talents on acoustic and electric guitar, violin, and bass guitar. Evonne Hennebery accompanies on keyboard, and percussionist Nick Siracuse adds depth to the music with drums and percussion. Reflections are narrated by Jane Dickerson, offering insights on sacrifice, perseverance, forgiveness, and truth — timeless themes that continue to resonate today.

This candlelit presentation offers a way to experience the Stations of the Cross that is both personal and communal. Music has a unique ability to touch the heart and combining it with these reflections helps people connect with the journey of Christ in a profound way.

The presentation is free and open to all, regardless of age or faith background. Holy Trinity R.C. Church, located at 1032 Central Ave., is fully handicapped accessible.
