Danza! Performing Arts Academy is celebrating their 30th anniversary of dance education. Located in the historic 7-9 East Main Street building since their inception, thousands of local dancers have stepped through the doors since their 1996 opening.
Fredonia native Krista Giambrone Taylor created Danza! after years of professional dance performing across the Globe. Every style the studio offers is something she has done as a working professional. From world tours and cruise contracts aboard the Queen Elizabeth 2, Royal Viking sun, Asuka, Sagafjord, Vistafjord, Guest roles in Ballet companies, Modern Company contracts, commercials, video, Theme Parks, Industrials and more. Taylor holds a degree in dance and has made it her mission to provide the highest quality of dance education in a nurturing environment. “Dance is inherently a natural part of each human and the ability to express, appreciate art, learn discipline, application, time management, working with others, providing a physical outlet while making connections and just having fun.”
The studio offers a well balanced approach to all dance disciplines including Ballet, Pointe, Modern/Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Irish, Tumbling and Cheer. Numerous Special programs are available for young dancers, Adult and Toddlers. Special sessions offering Afro-Caribbean, Belly dance, Indian Fusion, those with special needs and opportunities to dance with caregivers and siblings are offered on a rotating basis. Periodic master classes are also offered.
In addition to an annual Spring production at Marvel Theatre SUNY Fredonia and Holiday showcase at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House dancers can be involved in community and charitable performances. Since its opening in 1996 Danza! has had its own student Dance Company; Danzaco created to offer further training and performance opportunities for talented and motivated students. Dancers have been committed to raise funds for Cancer research and patient support in our area for the past 15 years. Countless charitable and community performances as well as showcases and dance competitions round out the company’s experiences.
Associate Director Mckenna Taylor; a current professional dancer is a recent Bachelor of Fine Arts dance graduate from Point Park Conservatory. Mckenna is on staff as a technique specialist, Ballet, Pointe and Contemporary Teacher. Additional staff includes Stacey Gorka (tap), Taylor Thompson (hip hop) and Brooke Waterman (Irish).

Many alumni dancers have pursued professional dance careers as performers, teachers and artists. They all have left with a well-rounded dance education and appreciation of the arts.
The studio is gearing up for their 30th anniversary celebration “Cue the Confetti” today, Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. at Marvel Theatre Rockefeller Arts Center SUNY Fredonia. Tickets are available at the college box office and at the door.
Summer session begins in July and new students are welcome. Interested in a dance program or performance please contact Krista Taylor at danza@icloud.com
