Collage dance team earns national honors

The Collage Performing Arts Center of Fredonia announced the Majestic Youth Dance Team are The 2026 National Dance Team Champions.

The talented team of 11 dancers received a bid to compete at the Summit National Dance Team Championships in February while competing at the Jamfest Dance Team Championships in Kentucky representing the Northeast. The winning routine was a music Mix of Britney Spears songs and featured three distinct styles of dance, Jazz, high kick and pom. The routine highlights are a team toe touch, team combination of fouette’ turns and standing back tuck by Violet Zappie.

The winning routine was choreographed by Maya Vecchio, a former Majestic Champion and captain of the University of Kentucky dance team. The team is coached by Ella Duliba, a former Majestic Champion and a member of the University of Buffalo Dance Team. The Youth championship team captain is Andie Krenzer. The Champions each received a gold medal and a Championship ring in addition to a championship banner. The Youth team also competed in the jazz division earning a 12th place finish out of 31 teams.

The Majestic Mini Variety team earned a third place finish and the Majestic Mini Hip-Hop team earned a 13th place finish out of a field of 32 teams. The team each received bronze medals and a third place team banner. The Mini team routines were choreographed by Jayln Williams-Fredricks and the team is coached by Majestic Mia Sells.

The Majestic Tiny Pom team earned a fourth place in the tiny pom division and a sixth place in the jazz division. The Tiny team dances are choreographed by Marci Williams-Hadley and the team is coached by Ella Duliba.

The Majestic Dance teams travel to Orlando, Fla., annually with teams that earn bids to compete with the best dance teams from all over the United States and premier countries like Japan, Australia and Italy. The competition is produced by Universal Dance Association and will be televised on ESPN.

Majestic Competitive team dancers are required to enroll in tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip-hop and tumbling classes at the Collage Performing Arts Center year round. The dancers receive their ballet training from certified instructor Olivia Graves, hip-hop instructor Maya Rosplock, jazz/contemporary instructor Olivia Graves, tumbling and technique specialist and director Marci Williams-Hadley. Team members train approximately 12-15 hours per week in dance classes and team practice.

The team will begin training for the next season July 10 by attending a week-long dance intensive camp at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.
