The City of Dunkirk Festivals and Special Events Department will host their Annual Beach Bash on Saturday, July 25, throughout Wright Park starting at 9 a.m. through the evening. The event, sponsored by the City of Dunkirk and Beach Dog Grill, is open to the public.
There is a full slate of activities happening during this year's Beach Bash including a pickleball tournament and two separate softball tournaments. Additionally, there will be a DJ and live music all day, beach games and an opportunity to participate in Dunkirk's 1st annual Mrs. Roper's pub crawl. The pub crawl is slated to start at 1 p.m. at the Beach Dog Grill. Drink specials will be available to those participating.
The Annual Beach Bash Pickleball Tournament registration begins at 8:15 a.m. with the play beginning at 9 a.m. Gary Mirowka has organized the tournament for the past three years with assistance from the City of Dunkirk Recreation Department. Registration is $10 for Dunkirk residents and $15 for non-Dunkirk residents. Registration includes lunch and certificates for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each age division. At the Wright Park Beach rails, DJ Joe Gould will spin the tunes from 11 a.m. TO 2 p.m. Live music will take place on the stage at Beach Dog Grill with the following musical acts: 2-4:15 p.m. Melissa Sauers; 5-7:30 p.m. Aces & Eights; 8-11 p.m. Mayflower Hill. The Beach Dog Bar & Grill will be open all day with great food, snacks and beverages available.
Families can participate in a sand castle building contest starting at 12:30 p.m. There will also be several beach games available for beach goers to enjoy. All games will be located at Wright Park Beach near the lifeguard stands.
Wright Park Beach will be accessible with lifeguards from noon to 7 p.m. The splash pad, playground, basketball courts, volleyball court, skate park and pavilions located in the picnic grove will also be open to the public.
