The crime comedy "Confess, Fletch" continues Mystery Month in the Cinema Series at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center. The film stars Jon Hamm and will be screened today and Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
In this delightful comedy romp, the roguishly charming and endlessly troublesome Fletch (Hamm) becomes the prime suspect in a murder case while searching for a stolen art collection. The only way to prove his innocence? Find out which of the long list of suspects is the culprit - from the eccentric art dealer and a missing playboy to a crazy neighbor and Fletch's Italian girlfriend. Crime has never been this disorganized.
IndieWire calls the film "equal parts goofy, charismatic, boozy, and clever." TIME magazine calls it "well worth a watch." Quelle Movies, calls it "pure comedy gold (with) solid storytelling, a great lead, fully realized quirky supporting characters and a fun murder mystery plot. And it's even better on second viewing." The Daily Beast says "it's difficult to remember a recent American comedy with so many strong supporting performances, much less one that spins them around a headliner who's as nonchalantly magnetic as Hamm." Rated R for drug use, some sexual content, and language, "Confess, Fletch" runs one hour, 38 minutes.
Tickets are available at the door for $7 (adults), $6.50 (seniors & Opera House members) and $5 (students) the night of each screening.
