“The Menu” will be screened Saturday and Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

The next film in the Cinema Series at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center is the dark thriller “The Menu.” It will be screened Saturday and Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

A couple (Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult) travels to a coastal island to eat at an exclusive restaurant where the chef (Ralph Fiennes) has prepared a lavish menu, with some shocking surprises.

AARP Movies for Grownups calls the film “a clever culinary delight.” Original Cin movie review website calls it “the most entertaining ensemble film since ‘Knives Out,’ and the most engaging horror-satire since ‘Get Out.’ But no matter what comparisons and assumptions are made, it will not be the movie you expect.” The Observer (London) calls it “maliciously entertaining.”

Rated R for strong/disturbing violent content, language throughout and some sexual references, “The Menu” runs one hour, 47 minutes.

Tickets are available at the door for $7 (adults), $6.50 (seniors & Opera House members) and $5 (students) the night of each screening.
