Freedom Road headlines Classic Rock Night

Freedom Road – John Cougar Mellencamp Tribute is the headliner band.

The city of Dunkirk's Music on the Pier Summer Concert Series classic rock night is today on the Dunkirk Pier. Sponsored by Lake Shore Savings Bank, The Freeze begins at 5:25 p.m. followed by headliner Freedom Road - John Cougar Mellencamp Tribute at 6:45 p.m.

The concerts are presented by DFT Communications, Chautauqua Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and stage sponsor National Grid with Advanced Production Group as the production company.

The Freeze is a local Dunkirk band that plays classic rock/blues with over 32 years of playing behind them. Formed in 2015, the band is made up of Jimmy Foringer on guitar, Eli Tederous with vocals and Steve Haynes on the drums.

Freedom Road is the only John Cougar Mellencamp Tribute Band in the region with the musicians having multiple years of stage and studio experience. The band consists of Ed Johnson (Lead Vocals), Marty Kraig (Lead Guitar), Brad McGovern (Keys, Guitar, & Vocals), Billy Blue (Bass Guitar & Vocals) and Ric Hervey (Drums).

On Thursday pier concert dates, the pier will be closed to traffic at 2 p.m. Guests are reminded to bring a chair. Food trucks and other vendors will be on site along with the beverage tent provided by Arthur R Gren Company and Southern Tier Brewing Company. The Dunkirk Boardwalk Marketplace will also be open.

The weather-related canceled July 20 concert reschedule update will be announced soon.
