Anderson-Lee Library announces October activities, events

SILVER CREEK — Anderson-Lee Library, located at 43 Main St. has announced their programming for the month of October. Programs are free and open to the public. Registration is required unless stated otherwise, to ensure enough seating and materials for all patrons attending the program.

To register for programs, call the library at 716-934-3468, stop by, message us on Facebook, or visit www.andersonleelibrary.org and click on our events tab for easy online registration. You can also sign up for email/text reminders when you register online!

The library will be closed Monday. Oct. 9 for Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

¯ The Secret Society of the Twisted Stitchers: Fridays from noon to 2 p.m. This club is for all who love handiwork. Ages 10 and older and all skill levels are welcome! Please bring your own supplies. Just getting started? For knitting, bring size 10/10.5 bamboo needles and a light-colored worsted weight yarn (#4). For crochet, bring a size H hook and light-colored worsted weight yarn (#4). Come and learn or come and work on a project with others who love to knit, crochet, embroider, quilt etc.! No registration required. You do not need to commit to each week to attend. Please stop in and stitch!

¯ Chess Club: All skill levels are welcome to attend Chess Club! We will meet on Fridays from 2 to 3 p.m. For ages 10 and up and registration is not required. Please stop in and play!

¯ Pre-school Storytime for children ages 2-5 on Thursday mornings, Oct. 5, 12, and 19 with Miss Jill at 10:30 a.m. Children will participate in reading, singing, rhymes and fun crafts.

¯ School Age Storytime for children 6-12 years of age on Thursday mornings Oct. 5, 12, and 19 at 10:30 a.m. with Miss Amy. Stories, crafts, games, and other activities are offered.

¯ Seed Saving, Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. Have a favorite tomato plant or pepper plant or flower that you love and want to plant again in your garden next year? Join us as Silver Creek Hanover Garden Club members Anna Pingitore and Ian Hill teach us how. Come learn with us.

¯ Lego Club for ages 5-12, Thursday, Oct. 12 at 6:30 p.m. Build the challenge of the day, pick a challenge card or free build. Your choice! Limit of 10 children.

¯ Cozy Mystery Book Club, Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m. Our Cozy Mystery Book Club has been on hiatus, but is starting again! Join us tonight for an information session if you enjoy a cozy mystery!

¯ Unusual Garden Edibles, Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. Silver Creek Hanover Garden Club member Ian Hill will teach us about some unusual tasty things you can grow in your garden or yard. Come learn with us!

¯ Annual Trick or Read Halloween Party, Thursday, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. Come in costume, play games, craft, read stories, and receive treats! This is a family friendly, non-scary event or all ages

¯ Genealogy Club, Monday, Oct. 30 at 6pm. Follow-up session from September’s meeting with Gail Pugh Dash, Vice-President of the Chautauqua County Genealogical Society. Please bring a notebook or an electronic device for note taking.

Anderson-Lee Library is open to the public Monday and Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday noon to 5 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The library is closed Wednesday and Sunday.
