The Tutti Frutti Theatre Company of the United Kingdom brings its touring produc-tion of “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” to Rockefeller Arts Center on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. for a Kaleidoscope Family Series event.

A leading children’s theater company from the United Kingdom brings its 2024 U.S. tour to the State University of New York at Fredonia this February.

Rockefeller Arts Center presents “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” with the Tutti Frutti Theatre Com-pany on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. in Marvel Theatre on the Fredonia campus. This is a Kaleido-scope Family Series event designed for ages 3 and up.

The Fredonia performance is the third stop on the production’s 2024 tour of the United States. The tour begins Jan. 22 at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach, Fla., and continues through May 11 at the McCallum Theater in Palm Desert, Calif.

Inspired by the famous Aesop fable, this play by Mike Kenny has a gifted ensemble of actor-musi-cians who play the endearing characters, the hilarious sheep and perhaps a scary wolf or two.

“The Boy Who Cried Wolf” is described as “a warming wintery tale of a bother of a boy, a mith-ered mother and a grand old brass band of a granddad. All set in the village of knitters with fingers flicking, needles clicking, and where every new jumper tells a tale!”

In a review of the production, Everything Theatre magazine said “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” is “a shining example of theatre for young audiences done right,” while The Stage magazine said “Four stars – Tutti Frutti bring silliness, imagination to Aesop’s well-known fable.”

Writer Mike Kenny is considered one of England’s leading writers specializing in young people’s theatre. He was included in the Independent on Sunday’s list of “Top Ten Living Playwrights” and his plays are performed regularly throughout the United Kingdom and internationally. Kenny won

the 2015 Writers’ Guild Award for Best Play for Younger Audiences with “Three Wise Mon-keys.”

The goal of the Tutti Frutti Theatre Company is to produce “delightful new theater” for children and family audiences. The company strives to appeal to young imaginations through highly visual and physical storytelling. Its shows are written specifically for children aged 3 and up. “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” is approximately one hour long with no intermission.
