FHS to present ‘Beauty and the Beast’ beginning March 8

Four performances are planned for “Beauty and the Beast.”

The Fredonia High School Theater Department is set to present the Disney classic “Beauty and the Beast” for its annual spring musical this year.

The musical features showings on March 8 and 9, along with March 15 and 16. The March 9 performance is a 3 p.m. matinee, while all other performances are at 7:30 p.m. All tickets are $10. Reserved tickets are available at fredoniamusical.com with any remaining tickets sold at the door.

“Beauty and the Beast” is a tale as old as time. Based on the fairy tale and the acclaimed Disney movie, the musical was the first musical Disney adapted for the Broadway stage. The musical features all the classic songs from the movie such as “Be Our Guest,” “Belle,” “Something There,” and the titular song, as well as songs that were written for the musical such as “Home,” “If I Can’t Love Her,” and “A Change in Me.”

Approximately 100 Fredonia students are involved in the production between the cast, pit orchestra and backstage crew. Principal cast members include Ava Hartung (Belle), Draejen Hicks (The Beast), Jack Tuccio (Gaston), Miriam LaBarr (Mrs. Potts), Andrew Kinney (Lumiere), Bryce Bacher (Cogsworth), Grant Abbey (Maurice), Jackson Gollnitz (Lefou), Raena Beckley (Babette) and Caitlyn Clary (Madame de la Grande Bouche).
