Live at the Met continues at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center with Charles Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette. Two singers at the height of their powers – radiant soprano Nadine Sierra and tenor sensation Benjamin Bernheim – come together as the star-crossed lovers in Gounod’s sumptuous Shakespeare adaptation.

Live at the Met, the Metropolitan Opera’s award-winning series of live, high definition (HD) opera transmissions to theaters around the world, continues at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center on Saturday at 1 p.m., with Charles Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette.

Two singers at the height of their powers – radiant soprano Nadine Sierra and tenor sensation Benjamin Bernheim – come together as the star-crossed lovers in Gounod’s sumptuous Shakespeare adaptation, with Met Music Director Yannick Nezet-Seguin on the podium to conduct one of the repertoire’s most romantic scores.

Bartlett Sher’s elegant staging also features baritone Will Liverman and tenor Frederick Ballentine as the archrivals Mercutio and Tybalt, mezzo-soprano Samantha Hankey as the mischievous pageboy Stephano, and bass-baritone Alfred Walker as Frere Laurent.

Sung in French with English subtitles, this production runs three hours, 31 minutes with one intermission.

Individual tickets to each of the operas in the season are $20, ($18 Opera House members, $10 students).
