Warrior Relief Fund to host golf tournament at Shorewood July 22

The Warrior Relief Fund, a local nonprofit organization founded to benefit veteran’s causes, will host its first charity golf tournament on July 22 at Shorewood Country Club in Dunkirk.

The event will include lunch and dinner, refreshments, contests and raffles throughout the day, beginning with registration at 10:30 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at noon. Dinner and raffles will be held at the conclusion of the tournament. Awards will be given for the longest drive, closest to the pin, and if a hole-in-one is achieved.

Registration is $150 per golfer, which totals $600 for a team of four. The cost includes 18 holes of golf with a golf cart, lunch and dinner, and a t-shirt. The registration deadline is July 2. Registration and payment can be mailed to 49 Cottage Street, Fredonia, NY, 14063 or by contacting Jill Feinen at (716) 672-9681. Checks can be made out to the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation.

The Warrior Relief Fund is operated by volunteers “who share the desire to give back to the men and women who have sacrificed so much to keep our country safe and secure.” The organization operates solely on donations and fundraisers. Among the groups to have collaborated with the Warrior Relief Fund include the Wounded Warrior Project, the One Tribe Foundation, Veterans for Christ, Disabled American Veterans, and the Joseph P. Dwyer Veterans Peer Support Project.

The Warrior Relief Fund is seeking sponsors for holes on the course throughout the event, as well as items to be donated as raffle prizes. Hole sponsors will be recognized with signs at the hole and will be mentioned in advertising for the event.

Platinum sponsors of $2,500 and Gold sponsors of $1,500 include a team of four. The cost to be a Silver sponsor is $1,000; a Bronze sponsor is $500; and sponsoring a hole is $100.
