Music on the Pier continues with Hintz, Uncle Ben’s
Hintz of Thunder and Uncle Ben’s Remedy will hit the pier stage this Thursday for Dunkirk’s Music on the Pier Summer Concert Series for Country Rock Night. The concerts are presented by DFT Communications with stage sponsor National Grid and production company Advanced Production Group (APG).
Hintz of Thunder begins at 5:25 p.m. and Uncle Ben’s Remedy follows at 6:45 p.m. This week’s music is sponsored by Farrell Roofing.
Mandy Hintz of Hintz of Thunder was founded in 2012 by the husband/wife duo of Mandy Hintz and David Robbins. While the band is located across Western New York, they are based out of Perrysburg and play throughout the Southern Tier. The song selections are primarily set around country music – ranging from the Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash era to the current songs heard on the radio today. The current band is comprised of the following members: Mandy Hintz – lead vocals; David Robbins – vocals/electric guitar/acoustic guitar; Daniel Siracuse – vocals/bass guitar; Kenny Blesy – lead guitar and Jeff Wilson – vocals/drums. “These are story songs. Songs about the people we grew up with; grew together with and grew apart from – this music is medicine.” This is the story of Uncle Ben’s Remedy, a local band with a huge following.
The sound of Uncle Ben’s Remedy is rooted in the small towns of western New York, where community still matters and music is a part of every event. The boys learned to play and sing in this small-town atmosphere, giving their music the honest, back porch feel of the country music they love.
Uncle Ben’s Remedy consists of Ben Westlund, Harmony Griffin, Shawn Huestis, Brendan O’Connor and Jimmy Royce, playing all sorts of traditional and rock n’ roll instruments and stomping the floors; all while singing their hearts out in service to the song.
Food and other vendors will be on site along with the city’s beverage tent. The Dunkirk Boardwalk Marketplace and surrounding businesses will also be open. Guests are reminded to bring a chair.
The pier will close at 2 p.m. that day. All parked vehicles must be cleared by that time. Dunkirk event brochures are available from the boardwalk atrium or Dunkirk City Hall.
