CASSADAGA – The Citizens for a Better Cassadaga are proud to announce the next concert of their summer concert series. On Sunday, Aug. 18, Uncle Ben’s Remedy will be testing the waters on beautiful Cassadaga Lake. They will be performing their signature “outlaw country” on the Floating Stage from 5-7 p.m.

The sound of Uncle Ben’s Remedy is rooted in the small towns of Western New York where community still matters, and music is a part of every event. The boys learned to play and sing in this small-town atmosphere, giving their music the honest, back porch feel of the country music they love. Ben Westlund, Harmony Griffin, Shawn Huestis, Brendan O’Connor and Jimmy Royce play all sorts of traditional and rock ‘n’ roll instruments and stomp the floors, all while singing their hearts out.

Opening on the nearby beach gazebo from 4-5 p.m. is Stockton resident “Still Bill” Moran.

Growing up during the revival of classic American folk and protest music in the ’60s, Bill came to appreciate the music and the message of the time. At the heart of what he performs is a sense of peace, protest and positivity, calling all who listen to unite, sing along and set aside their differences. Bill hopes that his music from the ’60s and ’70s era of anti-war and peace will leave you with stirred up old memories, and walking out with a song stuck in your head.

The Beach Gazebo and the Floating Stage are both located on Cassadaga Beach – a beautiful lakeside park located on Park Avenue in Cassadaga. There is a playground, tetherball, beach volleyball, picnic tables and grills. Lifeguards will be on duty.

Bring a chair or come by boat, Bring a cooler or buy food and drink from Duper’s. Cassadaga themed merchandise will be for sale and all local artists and authors are welcome to set up a table and sell their creations. Rumor has it that Waddles the Duck will be making an appearance.

Funding is made possible through Arts Services Inc.’s Creative Impact Fund thanks to a New York State Senate Initiative supported by the NYS Legislature and Office of the Governor and administered by the New York State Council on the Arts.

Beach parking is limited. If you are able and willing, please park at the nearby church, library and fire hall. In case of inclement weather, this concert will be moved to the Cassadaga Fire Hall at 22 Mill St or the American Legion Post 1280 on 228 Maple Ave. For more information, call 716-665-8855.

Starting at $3.50/week.
