Fredonia theater tech group offering backstage tours after ‘Legally Blonde’ performances

Patrons will get an up-close look at the work that went on behind the scenes for the Fredonia Department of Theatre and Dance production of “Legally Blonde” courtesy of tours of-fered by the Fredonia Chapter of the United States Institute for Theater Technology.

The Fredonia Chapter of the United States Institute for Theater Technology (FUSITT) will be of-fering backstage tours for patrons following performances of “Legally Blonde” in Marvel Theatre.

The Department of Theatre and Dance production continues at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27 and 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2. It a Walter Gloor Mainstage Series event with tickets available 24/7 at www.fredonia.edu/tickets or by phone at 716-673-3501 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

FUSITT has a table in the Marvel lobby to the left of the entry stairs showcasing the work that the student and faculty technicians have put into the show. After the performance, interested patrons can gather there to participate in the tour. There is no specified cost, but patrons are asked to make a donation to FUSITT.

All money raised by the tours goes to fund the club’s trip to the 2025 USITT conference, which will be held in March in Columbus, Ohio.

“With USITT being so close by this year, we are pushing to have even more students attend the conference, so any and all donations help,” said Colton Baum, FUSITT Executive Board member. “There will be information about all of the technical elements of the show and some of the chal-lenges that we may have run into and information about the process, all while being able to go on-stage, backstage, and generally explore the space.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
