Opera House Series to screen ‘The Accountant 2’

“The Accountant 2” will be screened June 21 and 24.

The Cinema Series continues at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center with screenings of the summer action flick, “The Accountant 2,” on Saturday, June 21, and Tuesday, June 24, at 7:30 p.m. The Tuesday night screening will be shown with captions visible on the screen.

Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) has a talent for solving complex problems. When an old acquaintance is murdered, leaving behind a cryptic message to “find the accountant,” Wolff is compelled to solve the case. Realizing more extreme measures are necessary, Wolff recruits his estranged and highly lethal brother, Brax, to help. In partnership with U.S. Treasury Deputy Director Marybeth Medina, they uncover a deadly conspiracy, becoming targets of a ruthless network of killers who will stop at nothing to keep their secrets buried.

The Tribune News Service calls the film a “a dependable ’90s-style throwback action thriller, though it embraces a looser, more amusing tone (than the original).” Variety calls it “an agreeably loopy hyper violent good time.” The New York Times calls it “adroitly paced, unburdened by narrative logic and buoyed by well-synced, charismatic leads.” Rated R for strong violence and language throughout, “The Accountant 2” runs two hours, five minutes.

Tickets are available at the door for $7 (adults), $6.50 (seniors & Opera House members) and $5 (students) the night of each screening. The Opera House is equipped with assistive listening headsets for the hearing-impaired. Simply request one from any usher or staff member. The Opera House Cinema Series is generously sponsored by Lake Shore Savings Bank.
