Spiritual Art Show comes full Circle at Sacred Grounds

Internationally acclaimed artist, writer, and tarot creator John A. Rice brings his celebrated exhibition Beyond Words to Lily Dale — the birthplace of the project and the spiritual community that helped inspire it.
The show opens June 13 inside the gallery at Sacred Grounds and will run through June 28.
Beyond Words is a deeply personal, immersive art experience born from a series of collaborations with psychic mediums in Lily Dale. Using audience-submitted questions, Rice conducted and recorded a series of “art séances,” translating the messages received into emotionally resonant oil pastel paintings and multimedia artworks. Presented alongside the original audio, the work invites viewers into a contemplative, multisensory journey of spiritual inquiry.
Now, in a fitting full-circle moment, the project returns to the place where it began.
“So much of my work is about wayfinding and discovering your authentic self,” says Rice. “Bringing these paintings back to Lily Dale — where the guidance first came through — feels like closing the loop.”
The Lily Dale exhibition will also feature the complete 80-card Mindscapes Tarot deck on public view for the first time. Rendered in Rice’s distinctive oil pastel style, each card depicts a dreamlike landscape steeped in symbolism and emotional resonance. The deck has earned a wide international following for its intuitive, narrative depth and its invitation to reflect rather than predict.
Together, Beyond Words and Mindscapes Tarot form a body of work that explores the intersection of art and spirit, offering a uniquely meditative and personal experience for viewers.
