Johnson Estate announces wine awards

Johnson Estate Winery has had success at two recent competitions.
Johnson Estate Winery, New York’s oldest estate winery, has announced its impressive performance at two prestigious international wine competitions: the 2025 Los Angeles International Wine Competition and the 2025 Finger Lakes International Wine & Spirits Competition. The winery in Westfield garnered significant recognition for its wines and both competitions and these accolades underscore Johnson Estate’s unwavering commitment to producing exceptional, estate-grown wines.
Los Angeles International Wine Competition Success started this spring at the 2025 Los Angeles International Wine Competition: The winery’s 2023 Niagara earned the coveted Best of Class award and four other wines won Gold medals, including the winery’s dry and sweet Rieslings.
Finger Lakes International Wine & Spirits Competition (FLIWC) FLIWC is a unique competition, as 100% of the proceeds benefit Camp Good Days & Special Times, a central-NY non-profit assisting families affected by cancer: “Helping Kids with Cancer Be Kids”. At the 2025 Competition, Johnson Estate’s dedication to quality shone brightly with Best of Class awards for their Ives and Old Oak Gold as well as Platinum (Sparkling Traminette and Concord), Double Gold (Vidal Blanc Ice Wine), and Gold (Chambourcin Ice Wine, Chambourcin, and Maréchal Foch). A full list of our award-winning wines can be found on the Johnson Estate’s website blog entries: FInger Lakes International, and Los Angeles International.
Johnson Estate Winery is a third-generation family estate winery nestled in the heart of Lake Erie Wine Country. Third-generation owners, Fred and Jennifer Johnson and Winemaker Jeff Murphy, attribute the success of their wines to “the hard work and dedication of our talented vineyard and winery staff and its estate tradition. As an estate winery, the grapes used to produce these wines are grown within 3,000 feet of the winery, giving us great advantages in the production process.” This unique “bud to bottle” approach ensures exceptional quality and a true expression of the region’s terroir.
The winery’s historic tasting room is open seven days a week, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fred and Jennifer Johnson invite residents to come to the winery to taste the winery’s selection of 44 wines, from dry to sweet, including both American and European classics.
Open daily in July and August and three-day weekends until Columbus Day, the winery’s outdoor venue, FLIGHT, permits guests to sip flights of wine and savor elegant cheese and charcuterie boards. To delve deeper into the estate process, the winery offers educational tasting experiences & classes, including guided vineyard tours every Saturday and Sunday mornings paired with breakfast charcuterie and a mimosa. It’s the perfect way to experience the beauty and craftsmanship behind every bottle here in Western NY. www.JohnsonWinery.com, 716-326-2191
