Patterson Library plans October events

WESTFIELD — October events have been announced by the Patterson Library, 40 S. Portage St., for free events and programs.

The library is closed Monday, Oct. 20, for staff developments.

For adults:

Join our monthly book clubs — please call to confirm dates; no registration necessary.

— Mystery Book Club, third Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m.

— Best Sellers Book Club, first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

— Book talk, second Thursday of each month at 4 p.m.

— Cozy Crafters meets weekly on Tuesdays, from 1 to 3 p.m. Bring any handcraft projects to work on.

— Oct. 6, from noon to 2 p.m., — Culinary Creations (must pre-register). Pick a recipe (from the cookbook on display) to make and share with this monthly group of gourmands. This month’s book: 5 Ingredients: Mediterranean by Jamie Oliver.

— Oct. 9 at 5:30 p.m., author visit with Jason Bussman, “Fumble: A Memoir.”

— Oct. 21, 3 p.m. cooking with Chef Jim. Chef Jim from Wanderlust is back! This month is “2nd Course: Mother Sauces (Part Deux)–Red and White Mother Sauces and Their Applications.”

Learn to make each sauce with demos of easy varietal sauces!

— Oct. 21 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. annual Medicare enrollment. For private appointments with Rebecca Poynton, call 716-573-8783.

In the children’s area:

— Zoom room — Thursdays at 10:15 a.m., for ages to 3 years old.

— Giggle & Grow Storytime — Fridays at 10:30 a.m., for ages 3-5 and their families.

— Lego club, Saturdays 10:30-11:30 a.m.

— Movie night, Friday Oct. 24 “How to Train Your Dragon.”

— Halloween party, Saturday, Oct. 25 at 11 a.m.
