Fredonia Masterworks Concert features works by Brahms

The Fredonia School of Music and the Western New York Chamber Orchestra present “Reflections of Brahms” on Sunday at 3 p.m. in King Concert Hall at the State University of New York at Fredonia.

The School of Music and the Western New York Chamber Orchestra come together for this season’s Masterworks Concert.

“Reflections of Brahms” takes place Sunday at 3 p.m. in King Concert Hall at Rockefeller Arts Center. Featured are two works by the noted German composers: “Four Songs” and “A German Requiem.”

Tickets are available online 24/7 at fredonia.edu/tickets. Tickets may also be purchased on Monday, Wednesday or Friday by phone at (716) 673-3501 or in person at the Fredonia Ticket Office in the Williams Center during the same hours.

The concert features WNYCO, led by Conductor Glen Cortese; Fredonia Camarata Choir, prepared by Lecturer Brent Weber; and the Masterworks Chorus, prepared by Dr. Vernon Huff, who is Director of Choral Studies.

Brahms (1833-1897) was a 19th-century composer and pianist who was considered a master of symphonic and chamber music. He was known for blending elements of the Romantic style within traditional classic structures.
