Minion Mania at Christ Chapel
Minion Mania celebrated the start-up of Christ Chapel's fall schedule.
SILVER CREEK — Minion Mania occurred at Christ Chapel Wesleyan Church in Silver Creek, Sunday, September 9. Four hundred yellow and blue balloons filled nets suspended from the ceiling of the sanctuary. Two Minions stood in the front declaring “Short people welcome here (and tall ones too!).” In the movie “Despicable Me,” Pastor Mike Leamon observed that the behavior of the Minions was tied to the kind of leader they chose. When Gru was the arch villain at the beginning of the movie the Minions’ behavior was bad. When the love of the three orphan girls inspired Gru to change for the better, so did the Minions’ behavior. The kind of leader, we choose to follow always shapes what kind of life we live. When we sincerely choose Jesus as our leader his way of living becomes reflected in our lives. Jesus said, “anyone who believes in me will do the same kind of works I have done” (John 14:12).
The balloons dropped on all the worshipers at the end of the service. The children did their best to pop one balloon symbolizing their refusal to allow anyone else to take the place of Jesus as their leader. Everyone spilled out the doors of the church to enjoy a hotdog lunch and a yard full of activities including balloon stomp, an obstacle course, easel painting, Minion ball launch, noodle hockey, and more.
