Spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Paradise House scheduled for Oct. 6

GOWANDA — Each year, the Trinity United Church of Christ, 30 Erie St., Gowanda holds a fund-raising dinner for a worthy cause. This year, Gowanda’s Trinity’s dinner and basket raffle proceeds will benefit Rev. Anne Paris and Paradise House of Buffalo. Rev. Paris was a big part of Trinity’s history. She and her husband Rev. Hugh Pratt served at Trinity. They are both remembered fondly, and Rev. Pratt has come back to serve at Trinity in recent months.

Paradise House is a transitional house for women who have broken their addiction, are paroled from prison and it helps them reunite with their families. Rev. Anne has been running this house for 25 years in a former rectory in the Broadway-Fillmore area of the city. She has had hundreds of success stories.

The Trinity UCC family chose this charity because it means a great deal to the members, and it also benefits the greater community, as well as WNY families.

This year, the dinner will be on Oct. 6. It is from 4:30 to 7 p.m. or until sold out. Tickets can be purchased at the door. Prices at the door are $9 for adults and kids 13 and up, $6 for kids 6 to 12 and free for kids 5 and under. The prices have not gone up in a couple of years so that many more people can participate.

On the menu is spaghetti with “Jodie’s famous sauce,” meatballs, salad, bread and butter, drink and dessert. All menu items are homemade by the church members.

There will also be many baskets for people of all ages in the basket raffle. Basket themes include cheer, cooking, household, kids and crafts!

All are welcome to come to support a great cause, have some great food, and try their luck on some baskets!

The church is handicapped accessible from Erie Avenue.

Directions: take Route 20 to Route 39, proceed to Gowanda. Make a slight left onto West Main Street, stay in the right lane, continue onto East Main street and turn right on Erie Avenue. The parking lot is on the right-hand side across from the church.
