Filling the community room with energy, excitement, and laughter, students gathered Wednesday, Oct. 10 to kick-off Awana Club at Fredonia First United Methodist Church. The club is designed for students grades K-8 to explore a Bible-centered curriculum designed to help them understand and apply scriptural principles in everyday life. Biblical truths and character values are taught through games, crafts, stories, scripture, music, and service projects.
“Our goal is to support families and help kids on their journey to finding all that God created for them to experience. Our staff and volunteers are dedicated to building trusting relationships. Our program provides a safe environment for kids to have fun, make new friends, compete in challenging contests, and know God,” states June Ruckman, FFUMC Youth Director.
Awana Club meets each Wednesday night from 6 to 8 p.m. Yearly registration fee is $30. Parents with more than one child pay $20 per child. All Awana staff and volunteers are Safe Sanctuaries trained and background checked. Safe Sanctuaries is a training program created in 1996 to reduce the risk of abuse in the church for children, youth and vulnerable adults. The club follows the Fredonia Central School calendar for scheduled closings as well as cancellations due to inclement weather. Program information and closings are on their Facebook page.
