Ripley United Methodist Church breakfast today

Ripley United Methodist Church is holding an All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast today, Nov. 10 from 7:30 to 11 a.m. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, bacon, made-to-order eggs and toast (including omelets), fried potatoes, biscuits and sausage gravy, orange juice and coffee. The cost is $7 for “all you can eat.”

This month’s breakfast will benefit the Love Bear Project.

Reverend George Buchanan to speak at UCC

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua welcomes Consulting Minister George Buchanan to the pulpit on Sunday, Nov. 11. Buchanan’s sermon, “Keeping Our Balance” will explore how religious life, broadly defined, calls us to keep our balance as we navigate the journey of life. As we worship together, we will reflect carefully on what this means as we near the end of 2018.

Sunday we will also Share the Plate with The Chautauqua County Rural Ministry. 100 percent of the non-pledge money received in the collection plate on each Share the Plate Sunday is given to the chosen agency.

Immediately following the service, the Social Action Committee will host a discussion and vote on a congregational-wide social action project for the year. Lunch will be provided.

Church of the Living Spirit

This week’s speaker is Nancy Lombardo. Church services are held every Sunday in the Assembly Hall on Cleveland Avenue in Lily Dale.

Service time is 10:30 a.m. to noon and consists of a spiritual talk, a hands-on healing, a message demonstration, music, meditation and prayer.

Dunkirk First UMC harvest turkey dinner to benefit Willow Mission

The Dunkirk First United Methodist Church, located at 601 Washington Ave., is planning a harvest turkey dinner that will benefit its Willow Mission Christmas basket give away. All proceeds will be used for filling Christmas baskets with food ,winter accessories and goodies.

The dinner will take place Tuesday, Nov. 13 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. or sold out. The menu includes turkey, mashed potatoes, vegetables, stuffing, bread, pies and drink. The cost is $10.50 at the door or call ahead. Options include local delivery, take out and eat in. Call ahead to 366-2230 for tickets.

Blessed Mary Angela Holy Name Society plans roast pork dinner

The Blessed Mary Angela Holy Name Society will hold a roast pork dinner for Wednesday, Nov. 14 at the Parish Social Center, 324 Townsend St., Dunkirk. Serving hours are 4:30 to 6 p.m. The menu will feature roast pork, stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, vegetable, applesauce, dinner roll with butter, fresh baked pumpkin pie, coffee and apple cider.

Eat in or take out. Easy, convenient drive-through service will be available. The donation is $10 per dinner.

Tickets can be purchased after weekend Masses or at Big Rick’s One Stop, 327 Lake Shore Drive E., Dunkirk.

Silver Creek Assembly of God Church to host Gospel music night

On Friday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m., the Silver Creek Assembly of God Church is hosting a night of Gospel music featuring Catlin Center trio and newest recording artist Petrice Neyman. There will other gospel singers from Canada and the local area. Refreshments will follow. It will be a perfect night to fellowship. The church is located at 1385 Route 20.

Trinity Masterworks Choir fall concert to take place Friday

On Friday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m., Trinity Masterworks Choir will be presenting its Fall concert in Trinity Episcopal Church, 11 Day St., Fredonia. Trinity Masterworks Choir was founded in 2016 by Director Phillip McMullen with the mission of creating quality performance opportunities for community members, high school and college students who are singers or instrumentalists. Each year, two free concerts are performed by 50 to 60 local and student musicians. This fall concert will be the beautiful new “Requiem for Solace” by Kim Andre Arnesen, a Norwegian composer who has created many hauntingly beautiful works. Give yourself a gift by allowing yourself for an hour on a Friday evening, to let your soul be calmed from all its hurts with this outstanding music. A small reception follows in Garland Hall, giving guests an opportunity to meet the musicians and director.

Flip Cup Paint Adventure set

A Flip Cup Paint Adventure will be offered Saturday, Nov. 17 at 1 p.m. at 30 Erie Ave., Gowanda. The cost is $10 per person for supplies. Kids and adults are welcome. Wear old clothes, it’s a messy class. Registration is required. There is a limit of 20 people. Call 532-3004 to reserve a seat. This is the first of many classes offered by Trinity Congregation.

St. John’s United Church of Christ ham dinner set

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 733 Central Ave., Dunkirk will hold a ham dinner on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Call 366-0710 for reservations. Pre-sale tickets are $9.50. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10. Take-outs are available. Parking is off Eagle Street. Pre-sales must be picked up by 5:30 p.m.

NCCS Home School Association chicken barbecue Nov. 18

Northern Chautauqua Catholic School Home School Association will hold a Weidner’s chicken barbecue, on Sunday, Nov. 18 from noon until sold out at Holy Trinity Msgr. Bernardo Hall, 1032 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Dine-in or carry out options are available. Pre-sale tickets are $10, and can be purchased at the NCCS Main Office, 336 Washington Ave., Dunkirk during school hours. Tickets are $12 at door.
