Church of the Living Spirit
This week’s speaker is Mark Thomas. Church services are held every Sunday in the Assembly Hall on Cleveland Avenue in Lily Dale.
Service time is 10:30 a.m. to noon and consists of a spiritual talk, a hands-on healing, a message demonstration, music, meditation and prayer.

Unitarian Universalist Congregation to explore the meaning of covenants
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua will welcome Consulting Minister Reverend George Buchanan and Reverend Renee Ruchotzke to the pulpit on Sunday, Dec. 9. As Unitarian Universalists, we are a people held in the fabric of the mutual promises we call “covenant.” Join us as Buchanan and Ruchotzke help us celebrate the deeper meaning of our covenants.

Living Rosary Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe planned for Wednesday
The Knights of Columbus Fr. Michael J. McGivney Council 7921 will host a Living Rosary to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. The Living Rosary will take place at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, 42 Orchard St., Fredonia.
All are welcome, with a special invitation to members of all area Rosary Societies.
The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe is celebrated on Dec. 12. In 1999, Pope John Paul II, in his homily given during the solemn Mass at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, his third visit to the sanctuary, declared the date of Dec. 12 as a Liturgical Holy Day for the whole continent. During the same visit, Pope John Paul II entrusted the cause of life to her loving protection, and placed under her motherly care the innocent lives of children, especially those who are in danger of not being born.
‘St. Lucia Day’ – Taize Advent Service planned for Thursday
WESTFIELD — Slow down with spiritual refreshment this holiday season at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 12 Elm St., Westfield. On Thursday, Dec. 13 at 5:30 p.m., the public is invited to a St. Lucia Day Taize Advent service.
The worship tradition represented in these services began many years ago in the ecumenical French monastic community called Taize. It is a quiet service of meditation, reflection, readings and music.

St. John’s Episcopal Church cookie walk sale
It’s that time of the year again. Time to take a walk – a walk down Christmas cookie lane at St. John’s Episcopal Church.
There you’ll be able to select your favorite cookies from the large selection of cookies, including Italian fig and Baklava. Italian fig cookies and Baklava are $15 per pound. All others are $10 per pound.
The sale will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15 and run until 2 p.m. unless sold out sooner.
For those who would prefer to shop from home, free delivery will be available. Just call 366-8421 before the day of the sale, or call 366-1979 on Dec. 15.
St. John’s is located on the corner of W. Fourth and Lark streets in Dunkirk.
St. Joseph’s to offer dinner Dec. 15
GOWANDA — St. Joseph’s Church, located at 26 Erie Ave., Gowanda, will be serving stuffed shells, salad, bread, desserts, coffee and tea on Saturday, Dec. 15 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the church basement. All are welcome.
St. John’s United Church of Christ meatloaf dinner and DMS choral entertainment
St. John’s United Church of Christ will hold a meatloaf dinner on Saturday, Dec. 15, with serving from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at 733 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Call 366-0710 for reservations. Pre-sale tickets are $9.50, or tickets at the door, $10. Take-outs are available. Parking is off Eagle Street. Pre-sales must be picked up by 5:30 p.m. The Dunkirk Middle School chorus will entertain with songs of the season. Free will offerings will be accepted to aid the choral group in acquiring uniforms.
The Living Nativity taking place at Harvest Chapel
Step back in time and experience the very first Christmas. Go on a walking tour with a “tour guide” through various stations, all pointing to the birth of Christ. The tour will last approximately 40 minutes and tours leave every 10 minutes. The tour is also handicapped accessible throughout. There is something for everyone on this tour! This is a free event.
Times are Saturday, Dec. 15 from 5 to 8 p.m.; Sunday, Dec. 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sunday night, Dec. 16 from 5 to 7 p.m.
The event will take place at the Harvest Chapel, 39 Matteson St., Fredonia.
Lake Erie Baptist Church Christmas concert
Lake Erie Baptist Church, located at 9500 Lake Ave., Brocton, will hold its thirty-first annual Christmas concert at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 16. Free will offerings will be accepted. Call 792-6575 for details.
