UCC to hold Holidays of Light Service

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua will hold their annual intergenerational Holidays of Light Service on Sunday, Dec. 16. Join them as they celebrate through music and song the December “holidays of light,” Hanukkah, the Winter Solstice, and Christmas.

They will also Share the Plate with Hannah’s Fund at the WCA Foundation, which will support the Adolescent Mental Health Unit at UPMC Chautauqua (WCA Hospital, Jamestown) with a comfort room. A comfort room is used to calm the senses and allow the child to experience visual, auditory, olfactory and tactile stimuli that will help that child. Not only does it help the child develop the skills needed to calm themselves while there, but also for when they return to the community to prevent aggressive or uncontrolled behavior. One hundred percent of the non-pledge money received on each Share the Plate Sunday will be given to the chosen agency. Make your check payable to UUCNC and indicate “Share the Plate” on the memo line. Of course, your cash contribution is also welcome for Share the Plate!

Worship services are held each Sunday at 11 a.m. in the Grange Hall, 58 W. Main St., Fredonia. Call 679-7944, visit www.uucnc.org or visit the page on Facebook at www.facebook.com/uucnc for more information.

First United Presbyterian to host third advent recital

David has a Bachelor of Science from Slippery Rock State University and a Masters of Science from SUNY Fredonia in curriculum and instruction. Molly started her teaching career as a music teacher in the Ripley Central School District. After being a stay at home mother for three children, she felt the call into the ordained ministry. Rev. Golando is an ordained Deacon for the United Methodist Church.

The Marsh Memorial Advent Recital Series is presented as a traditional program begun in 1978, under the direction of First United Presbyterian Church of Dunkirk’s organist and musical director, Howard Marsh.

This free musical program is designed to provide members of the church community and the general public with an opportunity for a period of peaceful reflection and contemplation during the hour at mid-week throughout the Advent season.
