Blessed Mary Angela Rosary Society March news

On March 4, The Blessed Mary Angela Rosary Society recently held its monthly meeting at the Lakeside site Lyceum following a two month hiatus.

An opening prayer was offered by Katherine Hamernik. Rosary Society officers led members in a recitation of the Holy Rosary and prayers were offered for sick and deceased members.

Vice President Rita Cieslewicz reviewed thank-you cards received from society members and others regarding holiday remembrances. Society Secretary Hamernik reviewed the meeting minutes from the last regular meeting held on Nov. 12, 2018. Society Treasurer Sandra Tapasto reviewed the financial report for the Society.

Society President Carol Schiller thanked members who had contributed to the success of the recent fundraiser chicken barbeque dinner presented by the Holy Name Society and encouraged members to support the upcoming roast beef on weck dinner to be held today.

A discussion was held regarding a possible raffle fundraiser to be held in June by the Rosary Society. Members agreed to move forward with this endeavor.

Tapasto led members in a prayer offered to St. Joseph and read a blessing for members in honor of St. Patrick. A prayer was also offered in recognition of the commencement of Lent.

January, February, and March birthdays were celebrated for members Tapasto, Irene Rozumalski, Joan Zielinski and Lucille Bartkowski.

The attendance prize was won by Bartkowski.

As the meeting ended, Schiller offered a closing prayer and members shared refreshments and raffle prizes supplied by Rhonda Daminski, Natalie Kolasa and Jenny Naruszewicz.

Eden Players to perform ‘The Fourth Wish’ in Gowanda

St. Paul’s Eden Players will be performing a full-length Christian play written by Rev. Tom Lutz.

The Fourth Wish begins with a gift given to eleven year old Rebecca by her Uncle Thor, who claims that the necklace is magical. He explains to her that each jewel on the necklace can grant a wish. Rebecca then uses those wishes throughout her life, but the most important one is the fourth wish she makes when she has children of her own.

Come and join Rebecca on a magical journey of faith empowered by the love she shares with her uncle. Come and see how love makes all the difference in the lives of the people around us.

This play will be performed at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 29 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 40 S. Chapel St. in Gowanda.

The admission charge for this production is one nonperishable food item per person to benefit the Gowanda Food Pantry.
