Church on Beach Sunday in Cassadaga

CASSADAGA — Bring your chair and an appetite! Sunday, July 28, Park Church will hold its worship service at the beach. Baptisms will take place in Cassadaga Lake at 10:30 a.m. followed by the worship service. Following the service lunch will be served.

The beach in Cassadaga is located on Park Avenue. All are welcome to attend.

Canon Catherine Dempsey-Sims to speak on prayer

Why pray? How to pray? What to expect from prayer? These and other questions will be addressed by Canon Catherine Dempsey-Sims, who will be the guest speaker at St. John’s Episcopal Church on Sunday, July 28.

Canon Dempsey-Sims is the Canon for Connections for the Episcopal Diocese of Western New York. Among other facts, she will share her own story of the powerful results of prayer.

She will preach at both the 8 a.m. and the 11 a.m. services. St. John’s is located at the corner of West Fourth and Lark streets in Dunkirk. All are invited to attend the services and the reception following the service.

Sarina Baptista guest speaker at Universal Unity of Spirit

CASSADAGA — Sarina Baptista is an Award-Winning Author, International Speaker, Spiritual Teacher, and Psychic Medium. Her latest book, “My View from Heaven,” is a 2019 COVR Visionary Awards Bronze Recipient in the Iconic Book category. She was a featured speaker for the “Life, Death and Beyond” International Conference in Crete, Greece.

Sarina resides in northern Colorado and can be heard regularly on iHeart Media’s Big 97.9FM.U She teaches classes and is a visiting medium at Lily Dale during their summer program, and has created mediumship training programs, including mentoring, long distance training, workshops, and webinars.

Sarina discovered her gifts through her own tragedy – the passing of her 7-year-old son in March 2007. He remains very close as she continues to use her gifts of mediumship and writing.

Her Sunday lecture topic is “What Does Your Heart Meter Say.” Please come for the 11 a.m. service, which includes meditation and healing followed by fellowship and refreshments at 89 N. Trinity Lutheran to hold 8th annual indoor yard sale

SILVER CREEK — Trinity Lutheran Church, through a generous donation from Thrivent Financial, will be holding its 8th annual indoor yard sale on Saturday, Aug. 3 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the Silver Creek village-wide sales. Featured are a large selection of books, greeting cards and jewelry. A wide variety of household items will be sold at bargain prices. Some free goodies will be available, too!

In addition, the men of the church will be sponsoring a Sahlen’s hot dog sale starting at 10 a.m. A value meal including a hot dog, bag of chips, bottle of water and bag of cookies will be sold for $3. A hot dog will cost $1.50.

In appreciation of their dedication, the Irving Fire Department will receive 50% of the yard sale proceeds and 100% of the hot dog sale proceeds. The church is located at 15 Porter Ave. in Silver Creek.

West Portland Baptist Kid’s Ministry

PORTLAND — The West Portland Baptist Church, 7081 E. Route 20, Westfield will host 4 special nights for kids ages 3 through 11 at the church. On Sunday, Aug. 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. will be Kids Summer Fun Night with the inflatable obstacle course, soccer darts, refreshments, and video. The next 3 nights, Monday, Aug. 5 through Wednesday, Aug. 7 from 6 to 8 p.m., will feature VBS. This year’s theme is “In the Wild – Amazing Encounters With Jesus” featuring Bible lessons, crafts, refreshments, sports, prizes and much more. All kids are welcome.

NCCS to host week long Bible camp

Join in the fun of an African safari theme for the annual Bible Camp. The theme this year is ‘Roar! Life is Wild, God is Good.’ Join together Aug. 5-9, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Northern Chautauqua Catholic School (NCCS), as a camper (ages 4-10) or as a volunteer station helper, jr. crew leader (ages 11+) or adult crew leader.
