Church to give away free food, school supplies

SINCLAIRVILLE — On Sunday, Aug. 25, from noon to 3 p.m. in downtown Sinclairville, Park Church will hold its annual I Am Free event. Children who live in the Cassadaga Valley community will be given free school supplies, clothing vouchers and free haircuts. The Sheriff’s Department will be on hand to provide car seat inspections.

For those that don’t have children, there will be plenty to do as well. There will be free food, classic cars and a dunk tank!

For those interested, there will be an outdoor church service starting at 10:30 a.m. Both events take place in Minckler Commons.

Universal Unity of Sprit announces guest speaker

CASSADAGA — Terry Mayer, a resident of Lily Dale for 21 years and member of Toastmasters International for 12 years is the guest speaker at the 11 a.m. service at Universal Unity of Spirit. Her lesson includes tips and quips on “what not to say” to assist public speakers.

She has taught a class entitled “Overcoming Fear of Public Speaking” for SUNY Fredonia’s Upward Bound program and for Lily Dale’s summer program. Also, she has taught healing classes for the Lily Dale NSAC Church. Mayer volunteered for the Rural Ministry in Dunkirk for 10 years, taught reading for Literacy Volunteers of America and continues to volunteer in many capacities throughout Chautauqua County.

Silver Creek Church movie night set for Sunday

The Silver Creek Assembly of God Church will host a movie night, featuring the film “Break Through,” on Sunday. Aug. 25 at 6 p.m. sharp. The location is 1385 Route 20, Silver Creek. Admission is free. All are welcome. You won’t want to miss it!

Spirituality Courses offered this fall

A course on Spiritual Essentials, an eight-week course is being taught by Dennis Mahaney on Wednesdays from Sept. 11 to Oct. 30 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Parish Center at St. Joseph Parish, Fredonia.

Dennis will touch on topics such as: Am l growing, is my spirit… restless for God, awakening to the sheer wonder of life, aware that there is more to life than self preservation, expanding in my capability to love, what are the spiritual essentials, what is holding me back, just to name a few. South Dayton Church giant rummage sale and bake sale set

The South Dayton United Methodist Church will hold a giant rummage sale and bake sale on Sept. 6 and at 34 Maple St., South Dayton. The hours are Friday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a bag sale at noon. Proceeds benefit the South Dayton United Methodist Church missions funds.
